Assignment # 9

Journal of loyalist James Wei, now revealing an entry!

Day 1: To Canada

The way I was treated by those Patriot scum will not be tolerated, kicking us out of my home even though I did absolutely nothing to them. They kicked me out of my home just because I have a loyalty towards our queen. I are living off the streets right now, with no where to go. I heard that Canada is a great place with plenty of everything. Yes, I'm going there.

Day 2: To Canada

I just made it into in New York, and I'm so thirsty... I'm hungry...SO HUNGRY! I'm so close to Canada, yet I am so far... I'm still here though, and I believe I can make it there. I need some food first. I better find some shelter first, and hopes that my friend William still lives at New York.

Day 3: To Canada

WOW! Still not there yet... I'm so glad I started from New Jersey, that it's so close to Canada. I feel kind of bad for those people who live way down in the 13Th colony. So much walking they must have done. I couldn't find William though... I'm worried something might have happened to him. I can't believe I'm only 2 hours away from Canada! This is going to be great after ALL THAT WALKING!

Day 4: In Canada

I finally made it into Canada, I've decided to start a new life. This country is better then the states, with plenty everything. This place is even better then what I have imagined it to be. Wow, it's actually very Refreshing here and I'm glad to be here now. Time to make a farm and start earning some money.

Day 5: In Canada

I can't believe how much people are a bit hostile towards me. They seem like they don't want me here. I got to stay here because my home is probably not even there anymore. I guess I will just have to live with it and I decided to finally get started on my farm. I actually met some good friends here too. Whats even more cool is that I saw William! He was in town and was working as a tailor as he says. Good luck to him and time to get a good night rest for an early start in the morning. I won't get my old life back, but I get to start a new life!

Assignment #8 Louis Riel

James: Hello, today we will have a very special guest on "Live with James!" This man was known by many, and was thought to be a traitor or hero... I bring to you, LOUIS RIEL!!!

Louis: Hello! I am glad to be here right now! This is an honor James, really.

James: No, No! It's an honor for me to be talking to the Great Louis Riel. Did you know that Louis also had a day named after him in his honor?

Louis: Yes, the day is February 16th, also on the same day of Family Day.

James: So, Louis, what did you do? Did you do anything spectacular?

Louis: Yes, I did actually. I was a Canadian politician, one of the founders of Manitoba and the leader of the Metis people. I led two resistances against John A. MacDonald. I was a Canadian Hero to some and a Traitor to others because of these resistances.

James: So Louis, why did you want to lead the resistances?

Louis: Well James, I was trying to protect the rights, cultures and land of the Metis people. I found it completely unfair that the Canadian government to just be taking all our land without our permission.

James: Well I'm sorry that you lost, but can you say a little about your resistances?

Louis: Okay, James, Why not? The first resistance took place in the year 1869-1870. It was known as the Red River Rebellion. We made a provisional government and negotiated Manitoba into the Canadian Confederation. Our second one was known as the North-West Rebellion. I... don't remember too much about it, sorry James.

James: Its okay! We learnt a lot about you today. Some people didn't even know who you were before. Thank you for your time, Louis!
This ends todays discussion. Tune in next time for the truth about Beavers!

Wikipedia gave some amazing information about Louis Riel.
This site is also great and has good information.
This is a great site also.

Martin Luther King JR Assignment.

Hi, I'm writing about Martin Luther King Jr.
This is the assignment. <---> This is my teacher's blog.
-How did Martin Luther King, Jr.'s words make you feel?
-Why did they make you feel this way?
-What did you feel about the students' presentation?
-How can you apply some of his ideas to your own life?

Martin Luther King Jr's words were very strong and gripping. They made me feel very strong and able to do anything. He made me think of freedom and freedom to slaves. He didn't fight with gun and cannons, but instead he decided to fight with words. I feel that the students learned a lot from making a presentation about Martin Luther King Jr. and that the world would be much more peaceful place if instead of fighting with guns and weapons, and fight with words and wisdom. They chose a very interesting type of video style. They chose black & white background as if they were there a long time ago. Racism is still here, but he tried to make a difference about it and he did.

These are some sites I got information on.
Wikipedia.
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Day.
Infoplease.
The Student's Presentation.
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Speech.
A Video of a Part of His Speech.

Thanks for reading, Jamesss

Assignment #7

This is the assignment that I am working on.
This is My teacher's Ms Pollocks blog. Oh yeah, THIS site gave me my information.

Which category of Canadian Personalities interested you the most? Did you like the "we inspired", "we founded", "we fought", "we built" or "we governed" section the best? Why?

I liked the "We Fought" section the most because it tells you about the people who tried there best to protect Canada and worked hard to make it what it i now.

Which personality interested you the most? Why? Find an image of him or her to embed and write, in your own words, a short description of what he or she did and why he or she is your favourite.

The personality that interests me the most was James Wolfe's personality because he was the commander of the english forces when they took over Canada. He also died fighting Montcalme. He is my favourite one because he died taking over Canada and has the same name as me.

In your post, suggest three more influential Canadian personalities that could be added to this site. Why did you choose these people? Which categories would they fit into?

Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman isn't Canadian, but she contributed a lot to Canada. I chose Harriet Tubman because she was one of the leaders of the Underground Railroad, which led to Canada. The Underground Railroad led slaves to freedom in Canada by passing through a path of safe houses. I also chose Harriet Tubman because she never lost hope and always went back to help others even though she could have just saved herself and not risk her own freedom. I think Harriet Tubman fits into the "We Fought" category because she fought for her freedom and other slaves freedom.

Jacques Cartier
Jacques Cartier isn't Canadian, but still if it wasn't for him, there may not be a Canada. Jacques Cartier is a french sailor who discovered the St. Lawrence river. I chose Jacques Cartier because If he didn't find Canada, this might not have been called Canada and might even be apart of the USA. If so, then slavery might have still be here. I think Jacques Cartier belongs to the "We Founded" because you can say he helped "found" Canada because he was one of the first people to go to Canada.

Lord Lisgar

Lord Lisgar's real name is John Young. He was the second Governor General of Canada. Lord Lisgar was also the first Governor General of Canada to travel into the United States. I chose Lord Lisgar because Lord Lisgar wasn't shy about voicing his opinion. He wasn't afraid to critisize. He also made some very important connections with the United States too. I think Lord Lisgar belongs in the "We Governed" because Lord Lisgar was an influential Governor General and because obviously, he was a governor.

I have the most things common with Thomas (Tom) Longboat. Me and Tom were both born in June. Our first languages were not english or french. He had a nickname, which was "Cogwagee" and i have a chinese name which is "Wei Yi Jin". He didn't have a full Education. He is in a running club and I am on the scool basketball team. :] He was a marathon runner and he traveled to many places in Europe and he also broke the Boston Marathon time by 5 minutes! I would love to go to Europe. Lots of awards and a school is named after him. After around 93 years after he ran in the Boston Marathon, Macleans named him in 2000 Canada's top athelete. I didn't figure out who it was because i never really knew who this person was.

In the year 2109, I would love to be known as a successful musician who inspired many to play music and make music. I would also be known as one of the most succesful musicians ever. I would be a Canadian History Maker who donated a lot of money to Cancer foundations and charities.
I was 13 when I first became a world wide Musician. I became one of the world's youngest musician's and people thought my music was great. In my Music career I made over 10 albums, all which became best sellers. I used a quarter of my money to support Charities and Cancer foundations. I funded and help find the cure to cancer which was made into a brand known as "James' Cancer Reliever". One school was named after me in my honor. Every year the highest honor to get in a music career was a Grammy. Now, they made something higher than a grammy. It is called JMA. These initials stand for James Music Award. After the age of 30, I quit the music business and became an artist. I donated many pieces of art to charities to help them raise money. (all fiction, too bad)

Assignment #5

I'm wondering about what in the world made the first canadian settlers stay. Some of the first canadian settlers may have been fur traders. I thought the best pelts are found in the Winter. Staying in Canada for the Winter may be tough for the fur traders, but they do get the best beaver and other animal pelts from it. Other settlers may have been people seeking a better life. Some people go to new places because in old cities may have been too much people and no leftover jobs. Some settlers might be refugees and prisoners. If they go back, they will only still be prisoners. Sometimes the government release the prisoners if they stay in Canada. Some people were soldiers, who would get a better life. Some people may have been farmers, wanting a better life and owning their own land. The Canadian government was offering free land to people willing to settle in the prairies too.

Some challenges that the early Canadian settlers might have faced in the Winter was how to get food and warmth. Since the Winter was so cold, i doubt they would be able to make a fire and get warm food. Back then, they didnt have such handy things like the microwave or oven. The only way to survive must have been to wear lots of cloths to keep warm. I don't know if they ate warm food or not. They also had to find a way to get water. I'm guessing a lot of people died trying to survive in the Winter.

The early Canadian settlers probably found a way to cope with the environment and the harsh, harsh winters. They probably prepared in advance the food and the things and supplies they need. They may have even ask their neighbors for help.

I think the reason why my family went to Canada was because Canada had a lot of resources and wasn't very crowded like in China or the United States of America. Canada is a very large country, with lots of space and excess land. In Canada, they also have lots of trees and plants making Canada a very "green" country. Canada to me is a very nice and awesome country, with just one flaw. It's too cold at times. My family learnt how to deal with the cold by wearing a lot of cloths and getting winter things like gloves, winter hats, winter coats and snow pants and also boots. If you dress warmly, obviously you will be warm.

I went to This site for a lot of my information.

Assignment #4

Peer#1: My Cool Pal Dillon.

Dillon has made some very good points about 2109. He said that the world would be at a near end. It may even already be at its end when we reach 2109. He stated, "By then, the jobs losses would reduce the majority of the country's population to beggary, and the municipal governments would be bankrupt. " He said some very good supporting details as well." I believe this answer because by the time we reach 2109, there will be probably a raise of a few billion people and the population, as Dillon stated, the lack of jobs will result in many people living in poverty.

I also hope for the best about global warming and the icecaps, and Barack Obama's plan to help save the environment. Overall, Dillon made a awesome job on his report of 2109 and used very strong and complex words.

Peer#2:My Awesome Friend Russell.

Russell's Assignment was very intriguing to me. Instead of saying the flaws of 2109 and the negative side, Russell saw some good in 2109. He stated, "I also think that all the wars will be over and that the poverty in other countries will end and the biggest thing is that everone will get health benefits so that the world will be more healthy." This answer is very positive about the year 2109. Russell looked at the good side of the year 2109. War outbreaks would happen rarer and conflicts would be resolved early. Our health would be better too thanks to the medicine advancements. As Russell stated again, technology will probably take over our everyday lives, making everything easier.
I'm trusting that Mr. Obama will help fix the recession, since I believe this job however hard it can be, can be done by Obama. Russell's Report was amazing, looking on the good side of 2109. I never thought there was a good side and i only looked into the negatives. Russell wrote an impressive paragraph using great words.

Peer#3: My Awesome Classmate Marsha.

Marsha talks about Canada and its resources being used in a great manner. She stated, "Since Canada have lots of free spaces, there will be lots of people from around the world that moves to Canada, which increases the population." This is entirely true, Canada is a very empty country when you think about it. We may have a lot of land, but we don't have that much people living IN that land. As Marsha stated, racism will be much, MUCH more rarer in the later years, the fact that Obama is the first Black president of the United States just supports this fact. Technology will be much more advanced, and as Marsha stated, there will probably actually by modern day robots.
If we don't start recycling, we might start to slowly gain more and more pollution resulting in Global Warming and a lot more Landfills. Marsha did an awesome job on her assignment and she used some very awesome terms.

Assignment #3

In 2109, I don't think there will even be an Earth anymore. By 2109, the world would have already been corrupted, and pollution would have destroyed all the environment. If we still exist, we wouldn't be on Earth anymore. We would have already advanced far enough in astronomy and technology that we found a new livable planet, and have spaceships. Earth would be abandoned and be something similar to a planet landfill.

If the world won't become corrupted by pollution, the world would go into chaos with the government and all the excess people. The excess people will also need jobs, to support their families. There would be too many people and not enough jobs so poverty would be overwhelming.

More people should actually be more aware of whats happening to our home planet, Earth. Some people think if it doesn't apply to them, they won't care. THIS APPLIES TO ALL OF US. We should stop polluting or polluting less, and start recycling . We don't know whats going to happen though. There might be Aliens, there might be Spaceships, and there might be no Earth.
